Production of the second generation cars (internal code 5J) began in December 2006 [20], they were presented to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2007 and went on sale in June [21]. The cars used the same platform, but became slightly larger in size. The famous Czech designer Frantisek Pelikan [22] was the author of the new body project.
The Skoda Fabia Combi station wagon was officially presented in September 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show [21]. In January 2008 the cars went on sale [23], in Russia sales began in March. Compared to the first generation, the new Fabia Combi became longer, taller and had a larger trunk with a total volume of 480 liters [24].
In March 2008, production of the first generation Fabia sedans was discontinued [25], and there are no sedans in the second generation Fabia range.
2010 Skoda Fabia
The model has undergone a small upgrade in 2010. There is a new grille, and the 3D faceted headlights are wider to emphasize the new horizontal lines of the front of the car. The range of engines was expanded to five petrol and three diesel. The cars received new wheels and a new range of body colors [26].
In the same year, a little later, the new sports car Skoda Fabia RS was presented, which was equipped with a unique gasoline engine with a double turbocharger. In January 2012, a limited edition Monte Carlo was added to the lineup to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the Škoda brand in motorsport. The Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo had black side moldings, a black roof and exterior mirrors, a black grille grille and tinted headlights. The 16-inch alloy wheels were also black.
